Pharma CEO Breakfast, March 18. 2025

Around 50 guests joined us at the fourth Pharma CEO Breakfast, held this time at the Kimpton BEM Budapest, organized by the Budapest Business Journal and our professional partners, Phoenix Group and Benu Pharmacies.

The keynote presentation by Dr. Bence Nagy of Healthware Consulting Ltd. and the roundtable discussion featuring Dr. Sàndor Lévai of Takeda Hungary, Colette Matz of Novartis Hungary, and Dr. Boban Milojkovic of Phoenix Group Representation Services, took as their overarching theme market access for innovative pharmaceutical therapies in Hungary, but also touched on the regional and EU picture.

The panelists also discussed the European Union Health Technology Assessment, which came into force in January, and the formation of the László Batthyány-Strattmann Foundation, which will assume responsibility for managing applications for exceptional drug funding in Hungary. Key takeaways included the need for synergy, cooperation and partnership across the board and the thought that pharma firms are all suffering, just suffering differently. There were calls for a rolling approval process for new innovative medicines, as well as transparency, predictability, and meaningful dialogue. Above all, there are questions about money. Is there enough for the healthcare budget, and what happens if the new foundation spends its allocation before the end of the calendar year?
